Help with burning movies!!

I am trying to back up some movies(avi's and mpeg) on cdr😉 I have Nero and it starts encoding them when I try to burn and takes forever. After an hour its only a few % done. I'm trying to free up space on my HD. Can someone help me with Nero or suggest other software .

Encoding time varies greatly depending on the length of the movies and the speed of your system. If Nero is really doing the encoding and the movies are long, then it could take several hours to finish.
 
well, if you are trying to burn to some other format (say, vcd or svcd), encoding will take a long time.

but if you just want to burn the avis and mpgs to disc so you can copy them back later, you should be burning a data disc and not a video disc.
