1. What YOUR PC will be used for.

a. Gaming and surfing mostly.

2. Price range

Do not have a set budget. Want to keep price down but need system to last for a few years. Would like to be able to play most of the new games. I guess looking for the best price/performance ratio

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.

United States
-NewEgg, microcenter? Have one local.

4. Brand preference

Nothing Really.

5. Any parts being reused.

Will reuse 22" monitor, pioneer dvd writer, keyboard, mouse and speakers

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.

Been trying to go through them but thought might be easier to post.

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.

Probably default at first, maybe overclock down the road.

Here is what I am thinking of so far

Processor:Core 2 Duo E8400
Hard Drive: 500g probably whatever is best price at the time
RAM: Not sure
PSU: Corsair 520HX (overkill? $35 off at newegg now)
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35 (seemed like pretty good price/performance if p35 is the way to go)
Video Card:Not Sure
Case:Antec p182 The $50 rebate is why I went this one.
Heatsink: not sure

Thanks in advance for the advice

520HX is NOT an overkill. It is an excellent modular PSU, but if you want to save money on PSU you can get one for less (That corsair is $105 AR shipped, you can get awesome PSU for around $75, namely Corsair VX450).
Here it is: http://www.buy.com/prod/Corsai...loc/101/205466485.html
I've seen VX450 go for $60.
It's up to you to find a special (hot) deal on parts.

RAM: anything rated to run 1.8V and DDR2-800. Go with two 2gb sticks. 4gb may seem a little excessive now but you'll aprecciate it few years down the line.

mobo/Case/PSU: excellent choices

Heatsink: Arctic Freezer 7 is inexpensive (~$20) cooler, but you can skip on this, stock cooler on C2D is very good for stock speeds and even small overclock.

Videocard (only get 512mb versions):
cheaper: Radeon 3850, 3870
more power: 8800GT, 8800GTS v2 (512mb RAM only)

Video card can be a 3870 x2, which outperforms even the 8800ultra is many games, and it's like $450, (or something like that...)
