I am building a mid range machine for gaming and this is what I have come up with:

CPU:
955 BE
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...?ItemList=Combo.212203

MOBO:
Foxconn 790GX
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...?ItemList=Combo.212203

Graphics:
XFX 4870 1 gig
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16814150394

Case/PSU:
Antec Sonata III
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16811129024

Memory:
Crucial 4GB DDR3 1333
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16820148262

HDD:
Western Digital Caviar Green WD6400AACS 640GB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16822136298

Total with shipping and taxes: 701.81

Can anyone tell me if these are compatable, and if I can get anything better for my money.

Also, I am missing a cooler that will fit the Sonata III and a DVD/CD drive, any suggestions? I really appreciate all the help! thanks guys.

The links dont work.

That said, everything looks good.

However, I would switch to a 4890 card if I were you...

Sorry cant help with the cooler, I will be using stock.

As for DVD/CD drive, I heard good things about Samsungs...

thanks for the help! refreshed the links so i think they should work, but I can't tell becuase no links on this site work for me...

Is there a big enough difference between the 4870 and 4890 to justify the 50$ more?

Also, would stock cooler be enough for the machine or would I need another just incase? Rather be safe if I can avoid frying the pc.

It look okay, I'd probably get a different set of DDR3 (ones with heatsinks) a bit faster HD, but that is just me. I'm not sure if your over budget or not already, but I'd also go with the 4890 1gb GPU over the 4870 (unless the budget is really tight).
Here are some other parts to consider too:
$185 shipped!! HIS 4890 1gb GPU w/FREE Stormrise game!
$65 shipped (same price as your selection, becasue of $6 shipping)
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ - Retail

Foxconn looks like garbage. Look at their reviews. Why buy an integrated GPU board if you want a 4890? Also, I would not agree on the 4890, but I'm not a gamer geek. I'll spend at least $300 on an audio interface, but no bueno on the 4890 - an overclocked 4850 with GDDR5 rather than GDDR3 is not kosher... Cheap hard drives are the devil.

Don't forget cables, thermal paste, a good CPU cooler, and also a good cooler for the gfx card especially on the 4890.

One reason I'd buy an integrated GPU is I'd need it if I had to send in the dedicated GPU in for repair. I could at least use the system for basic needs, until the repaired/replaced GPU was ready for install.
The reason I'd get the 4890 over the 4870, is the performance difference, assuming I could afford it. If the budget doesn't allow for the $35 upgrade than the 4870 will do.
$140 - $20 MIR = $120!! Here is a good deal on a 4870 1gb GPU, if your buying soon!
For a budget gaming system all that you should need is a decent CPU and the best GPU that the budget allows.

Will be changing to the 4890 as well.

Few more quick questions:

Will I really be needing more cooling even though I am not going to be overclocking?

Does the integrated graphics on the motherboard affect the 4890 if disabled? I can not even find a board without he integrated graphics, but if it makes a difference I will change it of course.

You are fine with the integrated graphics. Its not a bad thing if your video card has a problem or you later want to use the machine in another role that doesn't require a lot of gpu power.

The stock cooler is fine if you will not OC.
