Help with brainstorming for my forums

I am in the process of starting my forums. Its a sports forum for New York. I have every team for each sport, and a few NJ teams. I decided to add horse racing as well.

Am i missing any sports? I got baseball, basketball, football, hockey, and horse racing.

Also for each team i want seperate forums they can post in. Just dont know how to break them up. Like should i make a management forum, a players forum, a game recap forum, etc. Im really stuck on how to break it up.

Thanks guys for any input.

I got my hotrod site coming soon. Just waiting for the nameservers to switch over.

Thanks again rossman for the hosting information. Setting up the forums was a BREEZE.

Hey I like the look. A couple of suggestions from someone who recently started a forum site...

1) It's better to start out with a low number of forums, and break them out as activity warrants. Otherwise people will come to your site and see like 0 or 1 post and figure its not worth posting since nobody else does.

2) Add an off-topic, or "lounge" or whatever forum. Part of building a community is that as people get to know each other they want to talk about other stuff - helps keep the site going.

3) Try to get your own logo/headers in the message boards to distinguish yourself from other boards.

That said, I'm gonna go register and kick off your Yankees forum with a 2001 Diamondbacks post!

Good luck!

hey thanks for siging up, LOL.

Do you think i should have the main page of just the sports? then after clicking on the particular sport you get the teams???

I think i have to pay $100 bucks to get the forums w/o their advertising. If im wrong, show me how to implement my own logos. B/c i plan to have a friend make me a logo.

Plus the main page will eventually be a new york sports news site. Just gotta recruit some freelancing sports writers. I only have 3.
