Ok, here is what I've done. I've completely turned off the built-in windows xp firewall and I've forwarding the correct ports on my router to my IP. However, the light is still yellow. What can I do?

I have a DFI Lanparty 250gb Mobo, with built-in firewall. Do I need to turn that off? If so, how do I do that? Also, I have Network Associates virus scanner, does this have built-in firewall protection? Also, does the ATI catalyst drivers have a built-in firewall?

Finally, I use spybot and adaware, could they be protecting my pc?

Thanks in advance.

++ Should this be posted in networking instead?++

How do I turn off the nvidia firewall?

well, I guess I don't even have the nvidia firewall installed.

any other thoughts? could road runner block these ports or something?

and how long should I wait for the light to turn green?

It is a firewall thing. What about Windows XP Firewall?

If not, are your download speeds still okay?

First, make sure you are not using the standard ports.

Set them to somewhere between 50,000 & 65,000.

Then make sure the router is indeed setup correctly to forward the ports you've selected.

Use this to check if you are connectable http://btfaq.com/natcheck.pl

So don't use ports 6881 to 6889?

I've forwarded the router already. It didn't seem to work. My question now pertains to the above mention of using different ports.

about : Set them to somewhere between 50,000 & 65,000.

Yes. Do that, as i mentioned.

Some ISPs throttle the commonly used P2P ports, hence the recommendation to use non-standard ones.

I haven't used Bittornado, so i don't know if it uses just one port like Azureus or more, but however many ports it needs, set it up accordingly.
