Help with BIOS Flash for Abit BH6

Never flashed a BIOS before. Went to ABIT site, d/l the flash exe and the new bios, but the instructions they have there are written by a third world geek with no concept of the english lanquage. Can anyone lay out the steps in PLAIN ENGLISH, so I can get this 700mhz celery in my kids machine?

Thanks!

1) Make a dos boot disk for Windows. (go to help and "boot disk" if u dont know how)

2) Unzip flash.exe and bios

3) Copy these onto the boot disk you just made. ( now you might not have enough room on the disk to fit all this, so you might have to delete some uneeded stuff from the boot disk like "fdisk&quot😉

4) Run flash.exe from dos a: promt.

5) Type name on desired bios. Should say flash was successful.

6) Reboot and reset all your bios settings (the flash will put it all back to defaults)

That should be it. Good Luck !

Before flashing, go into bios and check for:
1. Any CPU over-clock/over-voltage: return to normal setting.
2. Any "bios shadow" setting: change to "No".

You need to make a clean boot disk first. Then put the BIOS .bin file, the newest AWDFLASH.EXE, and ABIT's batch file on the disk. Boot using the floppy, and when you get to the A: prompt, run

ABITFAE <bios file>

For example, if you have a BH6 1.0x board and are upgrading to the SS BIOS, then run:

ABITFAE BH6_SS.BIN

This method works perfectly on my BH6.
