I have a T-Bird 1.2gHz(266 FSB) and an Asus A7V133 with (256MB SDRAM, PC133 CL=2, Unbuffered, Non-Parity from Crucial).

What would be the proper settings for the BIOS as far as multiplier settings, bus speed, RAM settings.....(I'm new to this bios config thing, so I'm not sure what's necessary or important to optimize my hardware).

I'm using the default BIOS that came with the motherboard (rev 1.04 I believe)

Thanks,

Timothy Wong

Five40Kix-
I have the same config, but I use Mushkin memory. I don't know what all hardware your using in your beast, but leaving everything at default settings will be fine. I believe Asus always has thier BIOS optimized for default setting. Maybe someone can elaborate alittle better... G/L

The default settings are not right......

Leaving the default settings would only have my cpu at 900mHz.......(I checked my receipt twice to make sure they sold me a 1.2Ghz chip :) ). Also...the motherboard doesn't read the correct settings for my SDRAM. That's why I'm asking for the best config.....thanks

First of all I would reccommend flashing to the latest offical bios which is 1005. Just released today.

Second, I disagree with Xraider

Under the Boot Menu
Change Primary VGA BIOS to AGP if you have an AGP card
Disable Load Onboard ATA Bios if you aren't using the promise connections.

Under the Advanced Menu
Set the system performance setting to optimal
You have to tell your system to run at 133mhz. Your getting 900mhz because it's running at 100mhz. There is an option under this menu to change that.

Under Advanced->Chip Configuration
Change ram settings to 7ns 143 for best performance, Your ram should be able to handle that.
Enable AGP 4x
Enable AGP Fast Writes if your video card supports it

i think your all missing the point.
When you start your system up, the default bus speed is 100, multiplier 9 = 900Mhz.
because you have a C t-bird, you need to change the bus speed to 133, 9X133 = 1.2Ghz.

once you've done that, and can see you've got a 1.2Ghz chip, monkey with the bios until it runs at 1400 or 1500!

Asus: Bios
Davegod75, Well man, I figured that the guy knew enough to change the basic settings i.e. cpu speed.. but I guess not. Thats why I put the "maybe someone can elaborate alittle better.." ;) I'm at work so I can't look at my rig now and look. :(
