I have to petition to get my damn credit at school, so please, let me know how good my chances are, as far as this letter is concerned.. thanks.

To Whom It May Concern:

My name is SMP and the following is my petition statement. Last semester I attended a class to which, unbeknowest to myself, I was not enrolled. It appears that I was enrolled in another class for which at the end of the semester I received a grade of zero. Archie Graham, the instructor of the class that I had been attending and participating in, had assigned me a passing grade, this grade did not show up on my final transcript as the aforementioned zero did. Throughout the course of the semester, the instructor never notified me that I was not enrolled in his class. At the end of the semester I met with the Archie Graham and he assigned me my grade. Thus when I received my final grades, I received a zero in a class I did not know I was enrolled in, and no grade for the class I had been attending. Because the instructor had never mentioned having to add me to his class list, I had no reason to suspect otherwise.
I am asking for the recognition for the credit that I have received in Archie Graham?s class. Likewise I am asking for the grade of zero to be stricken from my record.
My tuition this past semester covered the four classes that I was enrolled in. I received passing grades in all four classes, yet only received credit for three. I hope that this misunderstanding is a simple matter for you to take care of. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely, SMP

Just a helpful hint it is bureaucratic (comes from the roots bureau=desks and crat=goverment). It is truly a government by desks.

I don't actually talk like that BTW... I was trying really hard to get the "school loving brownose" thing happening because I can't afford to pay for this class that I already payed for. Goddam sons of theivin bitches.

Read up on Max Weber - no one made this system, it's a given fact that when a society (or an organization) reaches a certain size it becomes bureaucratic. It has to with the limited rationality of human beeings. No one can keep an eye on everything, so we divide our society into different roles - each one closely linked to a certain set of tasks.

My point is; I spend some of my time as a part time employee at the University of Bergen (working in the administration). We're not evil, but sometimes students have made arrangements with their tutor/teacher, but fail to notify us. So there is no way for us to know about these things.

Hope it works out.

sounds good, ask Professor Graham to write a brief letter on your behalf as well, best of luck to you :)

Not bad, but I would suggest referring to Archie Graham as "Professor Graham" or "Dr. Graham" (depending of course on what his title actually is).

I'd also suggest talking to prof Graham and asking him if he'd be willing to provide you with some sort of letter to document your position. His letter would carry more weight and might help smoothe out the process.

Good luck!

Can't you just go and see a dean and get this squared away? It seems strange to me that your school would want a petition.
