Help with bad sectors

I recently tried to ghost my 160GB Samsung Spinpoint SATA drive to another SATA drive and I kept getting bad sector errors. I tried multiple different ghosting programs and even different computers with the same bad sector results. I never had any problems with the drive even though it is about 6 years old, I just wanted to upgrade to a larger, faster drive. I just gave up on the ghost and kept the drive.

Its been about a month since I tried to ghost the drive and now I am getting random freezes and blue screens. I have tried almost every disk utility and they show errors, but don't seem to be fixing them. they show the same errors everytime I scan the disc. I thought that the bad sectors would be reallocated to the spare sectors on the hard drive?

Should I even bother trying a fresh install on the samsung or should I just replace the drive?

If whatever Samsung has for a HDD diagnostic utility is failing, then i'd get in touch with them for an RMA.

Sector reallocation doesn't always go as it should AFAIK, & when there's too many going south, things might work for a bit after reformatting & reinstalling, but you'd likely see things get corrupted & wrecked as more fail soon afterward if the drive is dying.

Remappable sectors are limited, they might already be used up. Based on the symptoms, Id say its time to replace the drive.
