Help with bad cable modem

My cable modem loses connection for 4-5 seconds every 30 seconds. It's so consistent that when playing games i hide until the connection is lost then go and fight then hide again before the 30 secs is up. Anyone ever had this happen to them? Solutions? Called cable company and they basically said they couldnt do anything about it. Do have a router btw, but problem still occurs when the modem is plugged directly into my pc. Thanks for any help.

Find a new cable ISP since IMO that's very poor customer service.

Has this always happened with this particular modem?
- If so, RMA... hell, even if it HASN'T I'd try to RMA it unless it's over 1 year old. If your ISP is the one you need to return it to for a replacement, I'd do so. Raise hell if you need to.

How long have you been with this ISP? Can you cancel? Do you have other options (DSL)? They sure seem to be shafting you on the customer service.

I agree. That is very poor customer service. I suppose you tried resetting your cable modem as well right? If they will not work with you, find another ISP.

What model of cable modem is it? Who is your service provider? What are your signal levels (try going here for that info)?
