I hope you guys can help me. I've got an Aopen AK72 mobo running a 750mhz slot A Athlon. I have win98 installed and the VIA drivers for the audio...but I get no sound?!?

The onboard sound jumper is enabled and I checked device manager and found no conflicts...so what am I missing here?

Thanks.

What os? and did you install the 4-1 drivers? and did you enable the onboard sound in the bios?

knutp,

I'm running Win98 SE. I installed the 4 in 1 and the audio driver from Aopen's website. Jumper and bios settings are enabled...still can't figure out what's up?

Try installing the latest 4-1 drivers... viahardware.com
I think the latest is the 4.29.

And for the audio drivers, you could use the latest there as well, found at the same place as abowe. Does your computer find the sound card? and there is no yellow sign in the system properties either?

Thanks for the help knutp...I'll try re-installing the 4 in 1 and the audio drivers tomorrow (it's my work PC).

My PC recognizes the onboard sound and there are no yellow question marks in the system properties...there's just no sound coming out of the speakers. I'll re-try tomorrow morning and let you know if the re-install worked.

Thanks again.

ok! and I believe you have checked that there are output volume in the sound card properties? (the little speaker in the right corner) and that they are not all the way down?

Believe it or not I did check that too! :D The volume controls are up and not on mute...I'm hoping the re-install works cuz I've tried just about everything else I know of. Perhaps, the output plug is bad???
