Help With ATI Radeon 9800 Installation

I just upgraded my machine and have built/added everything besides the video card. Whenever I boot up my machine with the 9800 installed it doesn't boot correctly. Everything shows up scrambled random colors everywhere (reminds me of my old nintendo, when you would have to blow in the games). Anyway I obviously want to get this card up and running so any advice would be great.

My Specs Are:
Asus A8V Deluxe MBoard
AMD 3200+
Windows XP
120GB SATA HD
Antec 450 Watt PS

No standard monitor, is there anyway to be sure the card is bad? If so how is ATI's policies, will they be able to help me?

I had some issues installing a 9800 AIW in my system some tine ago, and I talked to tech support from ATI. Turns out, for the AIW at least there is a very specific order in which to install all the different parts.
You didnt say yours was a AIW, and Im at this very moment lookin for the directions he sent me. If it turns out you have the AIW, Ill tear my desk up lookin for it.

Btw, this card , which perfermed very well once installed is the reason I went back to invidia, changing the driver set for the thing would take an afternoon

for ati,, you can request a express RMA,, at which they will sent you a replacement card, and after recieving you just have to send back the defective card back to them..

I had this problem over the weekend with my 9800 Pro when I reformatted. I had the 4.11 Catalyst drivers installed, but made a change to my Nforce2 drivers. Windows was loading in 16-color mode and locked at the lowest resolution possible.

Apparently, I had to reinstall the GART (ie, AGP) driver for my motherboard and everything worked fine. It might be worth it to check it out.
