I installed an ATI Radeon 9200 in a pc I built with the following specs:

Intel PIII 750 cpu
256 mb sdram
ASUS motherboard
Soundblaster PCI soundcard
160 gb Seagate hard drive
Windows XP Pro

This system previously had a Geforce mx400 in it.

I uninstalled the Geforce video drivers, then installed the ATI card and installed the latest drivers. My son has tried to run a couple of games (Everquest and Halo), but the games freeze up and require a hard shut down of the computer. I took the time to wipe the hard drive, reinstall XP Pro, apply all patches including SP2, install the latest DirectX, and then install the latest drivers for the video card. The result is still the same...games crash when attempting to run them.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

What drivers did you use?

The ones from ATI's site?

Are you sure you installed drivers?

Did you use a CD?

Well. May not be the same problem but I had a 9700 Pro and when I installed XP and everything WC3 wouldn't run so I installed the drivers from their website and dx9 and rebooted and everything was fine.

What video levels are you setting those games at?

For that setup I would think that for games you would have to play at lowest video levels.
