I have an unlocked Athlon XP 1900, with an Abit KR7A, and 256mb Crucial DDR. I have the multiplier at 12.5x and when I put the FSB to 136 I can run Prime95 fine, but RTCW freezes on startup. I have run the FSB up to 138 before with the multiplier at 12x. Is it my cpu, memory, or motherboard holding me back. Default voltage. I have very adequete cooling. A Thermalright AX-7 with a YS-Tech 48.5cfm, and 108cfm of movement in my case due to two 120mm Sunons. My case temps are 22c and my cpu is 39c idle. Full load case is 24c and cpu is 45c. Can someone please give me some help? Thanks in advance.

Up the voltage up a tad, .05v-.10v volts more. Run your burn in tests, if its still freezing, then up the voltage to your DDR ram by .10v.

What Dexion said.

The sweet spot for me is 1.775V VCore and 2.65V VMem (XP1600@148MHZ FSB and Corsair XMS2400 at maxed dram timings).

Just enough of each to stabilize at chosen speed, and no more.

Hope this helps!

Cool, I'm gonna have that same setup, 'cept for 512mb ram, ddr2100.

Metalloid, what is your default memory speed? 2100, 2700. . .?

Also, where can I find instructions on how to unlock the xp?

Thanks all

I have PC2100 RAM. For some reason it is working now. I have it at 12.5x and 135fsb. Wolfenstein works fine, and I have been running Prime95 for 1 1/2 hours with no problems. Case temp 25c, CPU 46c. I am going to try to push it a little further in a while.

UPDATE: Ive got it running at 138fsb and 12.5x with no changes in vcore or RAM voltage. It has been running Prime95 for 2 hours and temps are case 23c and cpu 43c. (They are lower now because room temperature is a few degrees cooler). Im gonna keep pushing it farther. Will let you guys know how it goes.

I noticed that running at 141fsb, 12x multiplier everything was fine. But if I ran 1389sb and 12.5x RTCW froze or booted me after 5-10mins. So does this tell me that my CPU is maxed out, and the memory/PCI/AGP components are holding me back? Keep the suggestions coming.

Ran 12.5x 138FSB all night Prime95 no problems. At 139fsb I get an illegal operation after about an hour. Increased voltage to 1.775 and it didnt help. Is this really going to be my limit? If so I am very dissapointed. Please help.
