Help with Asus P2B-D and Adaptec AAA-131U2 RAID Controller

I'm having a problem getting my Adaptec AAA-131U2 RAID controller working in a Asus P2B-D at 133mhz FSB. Once the Adaptec Bios pops up, I get a dma bus master error and something about the memory controller on the RAID card. Does anyone if the PCI divider on the Asus P2B-D v1.06 D03 is 1/3 or 1/4?

If I run the system at 100mhz FSB, I have no problem at all only at 133mhz FSB. To me seems the PCI divider is 1/3 at 133mhz FSB. Anyone can confirm. I've got the latest version of the board Asus P2B-D v1.06 D03 and the latest bios on the Adaptec RAID card.

Would really appreciate anyones help. Thanks..

The BX chipset does not support 1/4 divider for PCI, only 1/3 and 1/2. So basically, you're running your RAID card at 44.3 Mhz when it wants 33.3 Mhz.

Really? I was told by someone else that they made two versions of this board, one that does 1/3 and one that does 1/4. If the PCI divider is indeed 1/3 ie 44mhz, then my 3Com 3C905B-TX and my SB Live Value have no problem running at such a high PCI speed..

On another note, I do also have a Asus P2B-DS that is also running at 133mhz FSB and the onboard SCSI controller has no problem running at 44mhz PCI speed, if indeed it is 1/3. Anyone can explain this to me?? Thanks!!

You are a lucky person to be able to run any SCSI controller at 44MHZ, especially that AAA-131U2. The memory controller promt is normal if it just tells the amount of supported ram detected. Buss master error could be the high FSB problem. If it runs fine at 100MHZ buss then you probably have already answered your question. You may be able to tweak it up to 124MHZ or so, but I found the AAA-131U2 very picky about buss speed.. Likely due to the nature of Raid and fault tolerance. That card is all about fault tolerance by the way..it offers no performance boost from Raid 0 from my experience with it.

BTW BX does support 1/4 PCI on many boards but doesnt support 1/2 AGP
