Help with ASUS M4A785-M connecting front audio ports

So I have an asus m4a785-m mobo and have been trying to use it inside my acer t180 case but can't seem to get it to power on with the power button on the case. Currently using my old mobo which works ok but was excited to finally have a new mobo with a quad-core. The connector from the case to the mobo seems to be the wrong kind for this one. Does anyone have some suggestions?

Case plug is like this

----+
-----

while the connector for the mobo is

+-+---++++
++---++-++

+'s are where the pins are for the mobo connector and the one + on the case plug is where the hole is blocked.

You're probably dealing with a 9-pin front panel connector which is wired like this:

http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/CS-009016.htm

You'll need to connect the wires to the correct positions on your motherboard system panel header. (See page 1-26 of the Asus M4A785-M manual).

The power switch is essential but the reset switch, HDD LED, and Power LED aren't absolutely necessary for the computer to run. If the "case plug" has a removable connector on the end which is aggregating the individual components, remove it and simply attach the individual connectors to the new motherboard header as indicated.

If it's not removable, you'll lose the rest but all hope is not lost. Just make sure the locations 6&8 "On/Off" on the 9-pin as shown in the Intel diagram are connected to the PWRSW pins on the motherboard jumper. Polarity doesn't matter for switches, so this appears to be possible with a slight "overhang", thusly:
Code:
+-+---++++
++-2468X++

Awesome, going to try this later tonight. Thanks both you for the informative help. I felt like an idiot last week spending 2 days trying to get it working to find out I was plugging into an outlet in my house which wasn't getting any power lol. Feared for the worse till I tried another outlet and things started working again haha. Can't wait!

Ok mostly working smooth just fan seems to always be going and the front audio/mic ports on my case don't appear to work currently.^_^
