Hi all :) Just got me an Asus A8N-Sli Deluxe, AMD64 3000+ the heatsink/fan is fairly basic as i was on a tight budget for the whole system...! Kinda interested in getting into overclocking and thought i would start with the utility Asus kindly provided me with!!!

All i have done so far is increase the performance mode up to 110% and surprisingly the resting temp has stayed at 31oC. Playing games this goes up to 38oC - but i've not had ne hardcore sessions yet...! How far can i go withoug too much risk and what should be my next steps??? i.e. are there any other useful programs i should get???

Thanx

Hi! I've been using the A8N-SLI deluxe since 12/04, the AI booster program is pretty buggy and crashed my system frequently. I pretty quickly started using "Clockgen NF4" instead, its a free download and much better than AI booster.

Overclocking in windows can be prone to crashes. It is safest to change only the HTT/FSB using Clockgen, and make all other changes in bios (HT multi, CPU multi, all voltages and ram timings)
