Help With Asus A8V-D

I updated my Asus A8v deluxe Bios from 1008 to 1009 last night for some unknown reason but after i did it it kicked my cpu(Athlon 64 3000+ socket 939) core speed down from 1.8 to 1.0 i was wondering if anybody else has had this problem and what i can do to fix it thanks much

Sounds like Cool 'n' Quiet is activated. C'n'Q will underclock your CPU by lowering the multiplier down to about 5 or so. It will also drop the voltage on the CPU core, making it run cooler. Try revving up the CPU by running Prime95 or some other CPU intensive application. You'll probably see the CPU ramp back up to normal speed. Or you can disable Cool'n'Quiet altogether in BIOS.

If it's not broken, don't fix it.

The new BIOS adds support for CPUs that you don't have, as well as beeps for when there are no RAM sticks--two "features" that you likely don't need. Flashing a BIOS is not risk free. Unless you need to, don't. There is almost no likelihood that you will see a performance increase for a board as mature as the A8V is by now.
