I am setting up an A7V133 motherboard and I just can't get the Promise RAID array working.
I plan on partitioning and running Win98SE and 2000Pro booting form the RAID 0, but can't get it to recognize the drive. I have a Western Digital 60gig set up in a removable tray for now and have that with 98SE installed first on a 20 gig partition and 2000 on a 20 gig partition with the last partition as storage formatted FAT32.
I though about installing 2000 alone and when I try to boot from the CD-ROM and load the Asus drivers I get an error message about the RAID drivers and can't get it to install. When I boot to the WD in 98SE or 2000 I get the feeling something is wrong with my install. 98SE can't see the drives 'cause they are currently formatted on NTFS. Partition Magic 5 sees the array as two drives and is unable to do much with them. Win2K sees the array as two drives too. Booting to a 98SE boot disk sees the array as two drives and allows a format, but at no time can I get the machine to recognize the array as a single drive other than in partition magic, but even then it sees the WD NTFS partition as part of the RAID "drive".
Done the Fastbuild utility many times. Each drive is on it's own channel and jumpered as master, they are two maxtor 80 gig 5400 RPM ATA100 drives.
I know I am missing something simple here, so what is it?
