Help with AMD XP 3200+ and Abit nf7-s v2.0 Overclock

Can someone help me on how to overclock this?

I bought a AMD XP 3200+ from Newegg.com and has a model number AQXDA 0324SPCW. I've gone into the bios and I can't change the FSB or multiplier because it is grayed out and won't let me highlight it. I think it's locked but I need confirmation on this. Can someone tell me how to to overclock this? I'm a newbie at this o/c stuff.

shouldn't be locked its a week 24 which weren't locked.

This bios will not let me change the values of the multiplier and fsb. It will only let me change the processor from 2500+ to 3200+ and that's it. How can I overcome this? Please help.

I have a locked barton 2500 and the same MB as yours, and THERE IS an ability to change the multiplier in the BIOS, only it doesn't affect the speed at all (BIOS and Windows recongnize it at the same speed as before).
I'd guess there's some Automatic / User Defined option you didn't notice, that will give the abilty to change your multiplier.
and if Falloutboy is correct, you should b able to raise your multiplier without a problem.

I've been reading and 39week or later are locked. How were u able to overclock yours OrenSam?

Read my post again - it seems AS IF I can change my Barton's multiplier in the bios, but the CPU speed after I boot doesn't change (if I change from 166x11 to 166x12, the bios still show me 1826 MHz).
The only way I can OC is by raising my FSB and leaving the multiplier at 11x. That means that I probably won't be able to pass 3200+ speed, unless I start messing around with my CPU and RAM voltages...

I got it working now. Thanks guys. I forgot to click one thing, user defined. Damn.

I'm at 203x11.5 and put memory to aggressive and changed the voltage. I'm gonna increase the fsb. I'm running 57C right now with 6 case fans and Zalman copper heatsink. What is a good temp. to keep and what other things can I change to get it faster. Would you change fsb or multiplier more?

57C is a very high temp, and it seems very weird you have that kind of temp with 6 case fans :Q
the temp. must be the first issue for you to deal with before you start OCing, unless you want to fry your CPU...
Are you sure you applied the heatsink and the thermal paste correctly? it seems to me that you put too much thermal paste, it's the only thing that can bring your temp. so high (unless you have an ambient temp. of 35C. of course )

your temp are fine 57C with the NF7 is like 47C in reality, the reason is that Abit increases the temperatures.
I have the SLK-947U and 5 80mm fans in my case and I get 47~50C idle 28C mobo.
I use bios ver. 20
If you want a better cooling get yourself a Thermalright SLK-900A or Thermalright SLK-947U , but if you want something that performes but cost less get Thermaltake volcano 12

Well since 3200+ is the max model number for Athlon XP's changing the multiplier shouldn't do anything. You need to O/C your FSB. 2nd 57C is extremely hot!!! Make sure you have just the right amount of thermal grease not too much and not too little. Make sure some of your fans are blowing air out and some are blowing air in. Good Luck

My 2 front fans and side fan are taking in air and the 2 back fans and top case fan are exhausting them out. Mine is about idle at 50C. I debating on getting the thermalright slk-947U. On Thermalright's website they say the 947u doesn't fit on nf7-s v2.0. Urs fit right on right Megaworks. Just spent 30 for this one. The temp is what I was worried about. Why does Abit increase their temperatures? What should I try? I'm at 204@11.5 at 2.34ghz. Should I drop the multiplier to 11 and increase fsb then to like 230?

Yes my SLK-947U fits on my NF7-S v.2, thermalright are full of crap. I don't know why Abit increases the temp maybe they want people to buy heatsinks. For your Cpu well I'm using 200x11.5= 2.3ghz that is equal to Athlon XP 3200+ so I'm happy:beer: If you want to try 230 go ahead and do it overclocking is fun, but to reach that FSB you need good Ram a PC3200 or PC3500.
