Help with AMD bundle memory choice

First, let me say that I'm totally lost in the memory arena...HTT? TCCD? 1T ??? 1:1???

OK, now then...I'm building a new system this week and I saw a deal for the Corsair 1GB PC3200 400MHz (2x512MB) DDR 184Pin - Model #VS1GBKIT400 - Lifetime Warranty .

Is this any good? I want to clock up the CPU a bit, but I'm not going crazy and I want to put up 2GB of memory, so the price is certainly right. Should I avoid this deal, or snap it up right now?

thanks

Memory performance doesn't seem to be that critical on the Athlon 64 platform, mostly as a result of its IMC.
That memory is fine, and you probably wouldn't noticed any difference installing pricier memory.

Also, 1GB is probably enough for most people now, but you can always upgrade when 1GB modules come down in price.

I just bought the OCZ Value Ram 1gb (2x512mb) dual channel PC3200 2.5CAS memory. The stock timings on it were 2.5-3-3-6 and it was $106 at newegg. With the Athlon 64 chips you can get away with getting cheaper memory and just run a divider when overclocking your cpu. (if you are going to overclock that is)

Save the money and get good cooling and/or a nice video card.

I can't find anything that says thesea are Dual Channel, and the website lists N/A for the latency...This worries me abit.

Memory modules aren't single or dual-channel in themselves - it's the motherboard that determines if they can be used in dual channel mode.
It's a bit like RAID 0, only for memory.

OK, so since I'm getting the A8N-E motherboard, with (2) of the 512MB modules, I should get Dual Channel (whatever that means)....Ok, now what about latency...should I stop worrying and just buy the Value RAM and get on with my life?

Another thread on hotdeals says that they are CAS 2.5, but nothing about timings or dual channel. Corsair says that they are compatible with my MOBO, but I can't tell what I'm missing with the timings and dual channel stuff

Here is your memory on Newegg.com according to your model # you gave me:

$79.99

It is dual channel capable as long as your board supports it of course. Also the CAS is 2.5 which is good. Most likely your default stock timings will be 2.5-4-4-8. Not a bad deal there my friend.
