i recently purchased an amd athlon 64 3800+ x2 dual core cpu. anyone have experiences on a quiet hsf? i noticed that some hsf say socket 939 compatible but it states that its for semprons or athlon 64 or opteron only, will those work?

If you're not overclocking, I suggest investing the same $50 that some heatsinks cost in a 14cm power supply. The side fan moves alot of warm air away from the cpu. Coolmax and ttgi make them at a reasonable price range with adjustable fans. I use the stock amd heatsink with a zalman "fan mate 2" rpm adjuster, and my temps are fine. Some places sell the amd heatsink for around $10. I can barely hear any noise from my case, and the temps are in the low to mid 40's. According to my bios, the power supply is only running at 880 rpm, while the amd fan is about 1700.
