Hi,

I recently purchased an Abit AV8 Aguru motherboard, socket 939 to replace the MSI K8N Neo2 motherboard that didn't work previously.

So I install the motherboard and I turn on the computer and it would run for a few seconds and then it would sound a beep and then shut down automatically. When I boot it
up I don't get anything on the monitor and it won't boot to the BIOS. Also, it doesn't seem like the motherboard powered up the hard drive either.

The codes I received from the motherboard display is:

0.2 - before I push power button
8.7 - when I hit the power button and its starting to power up
9.C - I saw this code while it was powered up and running, just before the beep
9.F - is the final code I received after the motherboard automatically shutdown.

Would anyone happen to know what's wrong? Any ideas on
how I can get the motherboard and CPU up and running?

Did I get two bad motherboards in a row or is it another part of my system that is messing things up?

My other system parts:

Athlon 64 3400+, Skt 939
2 x 512mb PC3200 OCZ value ram
Maxtor 120GB 7200rpm hard drive
Enermax 550W powersupply
ATI 9800 Pro
Soundblaster Audigy 2

Does anyone have any answers? Can anyone please help?

Not sure about your codes, but I had a mobo doing this to me, and a friend advised to redo my thermal grease application...and to do a better job. It worked, my CPU was overheating within a couple seconds because the little tip of one of the corners of the CPU die was not covered.

Try re-appling your thermal grease.

I tried reapplying the grease and the results are the same. Do you have any other suggestions?
