Bought a new system with the A7N8X deluxe Motherboard and am having problems connecting to the internet. I know the net is working cause i here now on my old system. When I bring up network connections under control panel it shows the 2 local area connections :the NVIDIA and the 3COM. and Also the 1394 Net adapter. I have the Nvidia disabled and the modem plugged into the 3 com port. I have set up the ICP setting as per COX cable for WIN XP. On the back of the computer you can sse the light blinking at the ethernet connection so how can i get my cards to work??

May seem simple, but if your ISP is using DHCP (not static/ISP assigned IP), you may need to cycle your modem(unplug, wait a minute, and plug back in) after everything is hooked up, just to get it to acknowledge the connection the the computer, while gettings it's ISP. The same goes for your "Gateway" computer, if you have it feeding other systems on your home network. If those computers are turned off, and you start/restart your computer, when the client computers come up, they will establish a connection with the host(main) computer, but because the host has already tried to pass on gateway information when it started, it will not work, unless your internal network is static (firm ip assigned). But you will still see client computers... They just wont have net access until everything is set up and your Gateway/main/host computer restarts. Hope it fixes your problem, cuz then it's E-Z!
