Help with a Radeon under Win 2K

I need help with my Radeon running on Windows 2000. This is a LE flashed to a DDR on an Epox 8K7A, 1.4 t-bird, 512mb crucial DDR, Fortissimo II sound, burner, dvd, ...... It runs fine under ME, benches good, runs Unreal Tournament well ( I play this daily, and host a server about 4 nights a week for 4 - 6 friends) as well as most other games. However when I load Win 2K the open GL speed stays about the same, but the D3D speed cuts about in half. The benchmarks show this, UT plays like it has a fast strobe light in the video, it really seems like either the hyperZ is off or the v-sync is on - both shown correctly in Raid on 5.1 and Radeon Tweaker. I recently bought a Gainward GF2 Pro/450 which ran GREAT under Win 2K but the 2d is good but not up to the Radeon, and the big time problem is when you run the card at the "optimized" speed in Gainwards own drivers it hangs the computer every 30 - 45 min. of playing! I think I would prefer to keep the Radeon for a month or two until the new cards come out, but I really want to run Win 2K.
Just for the record, 2 reloads of Win 2K with complete re-formats, all the correct Via and AMD drivers, DX 8.0, and the latest 2 Win 2K drivers from ATI. Please help, I know many are running the Radeon at decent speed under Win 2K.

There's a lot to consider. Have you checked out Rage3d yet? What driver are you using right now. An easier is to go for Omega's driver set for Win2k. This guy used to tweak 3dfx drivers and is now working with ATI's Radeon's. At Omega.
