I have recently installed the Xp and i have the following problem. It continuously asks me to give the drivers for new hardware about a"parallel device".From what i know it is my printer (HP 880c) who works fine.
Does anyone know what is the problem?
It also must be the reason that sometimes crashes and gives an error report,
Thankz

we need more specs if you want us to help you out... what kind of computer is this? Did you put it together, or is this a Dell or something? Also, you need to try unhooking the printer and check whether it still asks you for a driver....

My system is:
P4 2.8c
512 ram(pc3200)
fx5900 (128mb ram)
WD 40GB (7200)
direct x9.0

I think it must be the printer though, cause parallel device has to do with the parallel port or not?

When the message comes up again, put in your Win Xp cd and point to the cdrom. Let Win Xp install drivers from the cd.

I had to do this on an HP printer(895csi).

Hope this helps.
