I want to buy a Acer Ferrari, but I'm alittle hesitant. The harddrive is 4200 and I read somewhere "never buy anything with lower than 5200 rpm" Could I replace that old harddrive with a 7200rpm harddrive? It comes with an AMD 3000, I do alot of game developing (3d graphics) and ALOT of digital audio compliling and recording. Is AMD 3000+ and 512 ram pretty good? I could upgrade to 2 gigs, I guess I would do that in time after I got it. My friend said it would be wise to have two sicks of 1g so that if one fails, you have more than enough to run on. Thanks alot for you help.

Oh and few other things, how would this compare to if I was going to by an alienware or a hypersonic computer, do you think I hsould just go with one of those? Incase your wondering I multi task my geography program (landscape 5200 pro edition) and 3d max, so that takes up ALOT of cpu. I also do alot with flash, 3d max, sketchup, photoshop, and I do do alot of gaming.

I do have the money to go for the bigger stuff. I know this is going to sound stupid, but I don't want to get alien ware because the marketing, and that little alien face is so cheesey and silly looking. the Hypersonic laptops are ugly also. I do like this (I know this is a joke site)

Anything like that would be nice. Thanks alot for your help guys.

Welcome to the Forums :) If I were you, I wouldn't go and void my warranty by replacing the hard drive in an expensive new laptop. Buy the right thing the first time. I guess a decent desktop is out of the question here...?

well it would be inconvient, I do alot of my work on the fly, I move around alot, and I actualy use a laptop during travel Lol. I'm hardly ever at a desktop, just at night and only a few hours before I go to sleep.
