hey guy looking for a cheap ($600to $800) brandname laptop .... will be used for word processing and surfing ( no games ) ....DVD / CDR combo prefered ... thanx in advance
 
The Wal-mart in my town has a HP cleranced for 798 down from 998.

mobile athlon 2200
256 DDR Ram
30 GB HDD
15" XGA screen
dvd-rom/cd-rw and floppy drive
10/100 Lan
v.90/v.92 modem

Plus it has a printer/copier/scanner included.

Looked pretty good to me, but I'm not a big laptop guy.
 
If size isnt a problem ... you can get an Inspiron 1100, or even a 5100, if you get a good deal..
