Help with a HP 932c

Is there an *.icm for this thing or something? I'm having a terrible time getting this thing to give decent colors on my Great White Imaging & Photo paper (matte coated paper) which is what I use for most of my color printing, saving glossy for special things. I've already wasted most of my color cartridge trying to get the colors on the paper to match what's on the screen. I've tried the Plain paper and HP Bright White settings and it's too vibrant. If I use any of the other Inkjet paper settings it's way too yellowish. Using Other Photo works pretty well but not perfect and in that mode it's not using the black ink, just the color, which is a waste. The annoying thing is that my $69 Z32 could, on non-dark images, produce colors that almost perfectly matched the screen on any paper. I bought this thing because the Lexmark kept drying up on me but at this rate this HP is costing me more just trying to get the colors to match which the Lexmark could do just by selecting "Coated paper" and "OK." :|

Adjust your monitor to match the HP. Then ya'd have nothing to complain about. Are you sure the lexmark was printing a more accurate picture then the HP? My 930c kicks butt over any lexmark I have seen in of under it price range...but then maybe I am less picky then you.

<< Did you use HP paper? Maybe that's why you're getting better results. >>

I use what ever is cheap or free for photo paper. My every day paper is Great White.

LOL 😀

<< They're also pretty good as a band >>

Whatever you use..don't use Kodak 108 brightness with that printer,my prints look like sh!t..copier paper looks better :Q

<< Are you printing a picture??? Was it scanned??? Tell us a little about what you're trying to print. >>

I'm just using this pic I found on the internet somewhere. It's pretty low quality. The only reason I'm using it is I had a copy I printed on the Lexmark to compare with. In the picture the sky has a very light yellow or off white color. The HP can get this color right using most paper settings but all those settings have different disadvantages.

I don't see why the HP needs to use such radically different color schemes for different papers? With plain paper it's too reddish and with Inkjet it's too yellowish. Probably compensating for deficencies in their own crappy papers.

I use Great White Premium for my everyday paper, Great White Imaging & Photo for most color stuff, and Kodak Premium High Gloss for the rare glossy picture.

I understand your reason for the comparision, but I think I would scan a photograph or use a high quality image and see what the printer will do instead of comapring it to a low quality image that turned out okay on another printer. Just my .02

FWIW if you scan an image, make sure you scan it directly into the application you use to print or save it to a .tif file. If you want quality stay the hell away from .jpg.

I'm sure you already checked this, but try and putting in a brand new color cartridge. The one your using is possibly out of a specific color. I have yet to experience any problems, and I have been using the same printer for about a year now.

In case anyone would like to know, the sky color in the picture is approximately R:253 G:249 B:238 in PSP. Of course since this is a 24bit jpg the sky isn't going to be one continuous color but that should give you some idea. If anyone has this printer and would like to print it for themselves I could email it to them.

I just don't understand why it gives such a yellow appearance when selecting Inkjet papers and every other type of paper it doesn't.
