I recently purchased a geeksquad 1gb pen drive from best buy, and it works great. My problem is that it does not work at my school. It is recognized, usb mass storage device, and all that good stuff. But the drive does not show up in my computer. If i go to the defragment tool in windows the drive is there. The virtual cdrom shows up and U3 trys to launch, but fails. Can somewone please help. I do not have admin privelages, because last time i got them i got suspended lol, and the school has their gay security stuff set up.

If your school's security doesn't let you use the device I am not sure what you are expecting us to tell you besides, touch luck.

Are there and network drives attached as say, the F drive? If so, it is blocking your USB key because your key is trying to connect to the computer as F (or whatever your next drive letter is). You would have to go into the disk manager and manually change the drive letter of your USB key to another driver letter that isn't currently occupied.

This can be accomplished by right clicking on "My Computer" > manage > disk management > right click your USB drive > change drive letter path > and then change it to whatever is free.

If you don't have administrator privileges then you might be locked out... sorry. But that is how you do it if you can get into it.

(Those directions were off the top of my head as best I can recall, so I'm not 100% sure thats right.)
