what are the preportions for a gin and tonic? i'm using segrams extra dry gin(80p) and safeway brand tonic water......help?

Here's how I do it:
First, never use anything crappier than Beefeater. There's your problem right there.
Fill the glass with ice. Pour gin up to about 2/3 - 3/4 of the way up, depending on how good it is. Fill with tonic water up to the top, and throw in a slice of lime, squeezing a little juice on top first. Stir once or twice, and enjoy the hell out of it.

Large handful of ice. 1/4-1/2 gin, top up with tonic. Two drops bitters, one slice of lemon. Must be a very hot day.

1/4 gin? Why not just drink some water and think real hard about alcohol and juniper bushes?

1/4 - 1/2, depending how strong you like it. Chill out dude, I'm not really interested in a virtual e-drinking contest with you. You've proven you're far more macho by drinking a girls' drink with more liquor than me.

BITCH FIGHT!!!!!11111one

Good gin is key for sure, or else its like drinking pine scented lysol, I like Hendricks and Desert Juniper myself.

i do 1/3 Gin to 2/3 tonic or half and half. But I generally only drink them with Tanqueray gin and Schwepp's Tonic with a lime wedge.

First you need to start off with a good gin.....I prefer Tanqueray 10 for my G&T's.....then find a highball glass and fill it with ice, preferably some made from filtered water, then fill the glass at least 1/2 full with gin, put in a splash of lime juice, fill the rest of the glass with tonic and enjoy.

If you have some good mint you can plop that in there or garnish with it as well. By good mint I mean something like Kentucky Colonel, Wooly Mint or if you can find it a mint that is often referred to simply as Mojito Mint. More often than not I don't use the mint, but some people, mostly girls, like it.

Enjoy

You need good gin, then you need to just drink it stirred with ice then strained into a glass.

Leave the tonic for your grandparents.
