well i build this comp back in may and i am wondering how can i make a better comp now.
like with this price list http://www.otvtech.net/
Intel Core Duo 2 E6400 64bit Dual Core (2x 2.13Ghz, 1066FSB, 2MB Cache)
MSI P5N-e SLI-FI (Nvidia nForce 650i, Dual Channel, Dual PCI-E, Quad Core, Core Duo2, ATX)
MSI Geforce 8600GT 256MB (Nvidia,16x PCI-E w/ TV-Out, DVI, SLI)
OCZ OCZ2SOE8002GK PC6400 800Mhz 2GB Kit (2x1GB, 5-5-5-15, heatspreader, Lifetime)
160GB 7200RPM (SATA2 8MB Cache)
Samsung SH0S183L Litescribe (SATA,18x DVD+R/RW, 18x DVD-R/RW 48x24x48 CD-RW, Dual Layer, Black)
Aspire X-Cruiser (USB2.0/Firewire, 2x80mm, Front Temp/Fan-Speed/Sound Gauge, 420w, Black, ATX)

so far i am thinking about

Intel Core Duo 2 E6850 64bit Dual Core (2x 3.0Ghz, 1333FSB, 4MB Cache) or Q6600
Asus P5K SE (Intel P35, 1333FSB, Dual Channel, PCI-E, Core Duo2, Quad Core, ATX) <<<< really wondering about that one can it really outperform my older motherboard?
eVGA Geforce 8800GTS Superclock 320MB HDTV (Nvidia,16x PCI-E w/ TV-Out, Dual DVI, DirectX 10)
320GB 7200RPM (SATA2 16MB Cache)
Antec Gamer Nine Hundred (Front USB2.0/Firewire,Side Window, 1x200mm, 3x120mm, Black, ATX)
Crucial Ballistix Tracer BL2KIT12864AL1065 PC8500 1066Mhz 2GB Kit (2x1GB, 5-5-5-15, heatspreader, LED, Lifetime) <<< i really want this but i dont know if my mobo can use it. also i wanna go liquid cooled.....

all of your parts look good. i built a system very similar to this recently.
i would suggest a minimum of a 750w power supply of a better know company. 850w if you plan to SLI.
you may want to look at purchasing a GTX if your willing to spend the extra on a overclocked videocard or at least a 640MB version GTS.

What applications are you looking for better performance in?

I ask this because if you are looking to increase gaming performance you would be better off skipping the motherboard/CPU & just grabbing an 8800GTX instead (don't bother with the Ultra) ... going this route will save a lot of money & yield much better results.

If however you do mainly cpu-intensive tasks along with casual gaming, then I would again keep the motherboard you have & grab the Q6600 & the cheapest 320mb 8800GTS you can find ... although the 6850 will be faster then what you have now, I wouldn't bother spending your money on another dual-core CPU with the current price of the quad.

Edit: Note that you absolutely DO NOT need an 850 watt or even a 750 power supply even in a loaded system with GTX's in SLI .... any solid 600 watt unit will be more then enough. Further unless you are gaming at somthing above 1680x1050 resolution SLI is a complete waste of money & 1 GTX will be more then enough.

You have a fine system and a good overclocking board.

You can easily get your E6400 to the E6850 speeds with some tweaking.

Just get an 8800GTX like Captante said...

Yeah i can't seem to break the 3.0ghz barrier.... also i am trying not to have the same mb i like this board but i wanna try something new.
Intel Core Duo 2 E6850 64bit Dual Core (2x 3.0Ghz, 1333FSB, 4MB Cache) or Q6600*
Asus P5KC (Intel P35, 1333FSB, Dual Channel, PCI-E, DDR2 & DDR3, Core Duo2, Quad Core, ATX)*
<<<< really wondering about that one can it really outperform my older motherboard?
Sapphire Radeon 2900Pro 1GB (ATI, 16x PCI-E w/ TV-Out, Dual DVI, HDMI, DirectX10) *
320GB 7200RPM (SATA2 16MB Cache)
Antec Gamer Nine Hundred (Front USB2.0/Firewire,Side Window, 1x200mm, 3x120mm, Black, ATX)
Crucial Ballistix Tracer BL2KIT12864AL1065 PC8500 1066Mhz 2GB Kit (2x1GB, 5-5-5-15, heatspreader, LED, Lifetime)

i am wondering how this will perform? i am planning on buying this either next weekend or at the end of the month

Again, it's your money, but your OC'd E6400 will be as fast as the stock E6850, or faster, since your FSB will have to be faster.

BTW, it is not "2 x 3GHz", it is 3GHz - both cores work at the same frequency, you are not "doubling" your speed, the cores might only "share" the workload.

Don't waste your money - you'll get a better system, and more satisfaction from the system that you have overclocked YOURSELF.

It is easy to let Intel do this for you, if you have the money to spend (waste...?)...

Good luck!

DDR3 offers practically no performance benefit over the DDR2 that you already have & the new motherboard isn't going to help much either... you'll spend hundreds of dollars & only get a small speed bump if you go that route.

yeah i am just building a new system for my self from scratch and i do overclock my self but i just want a new system so i can get higher speeds etc. i play pretty much just games on my comp
supreme commander C&C tiberium wars and Lotro.
so with saying that i just basicly need help to find a better faster mobo then my p5n-e sli
is the new p35 my answer or should i go with the older 680i? i am going to go ati i went nvidia just this once but ic an't do it again i am going with a 2900pro or something i just dont like nvidia just like i can't stand a ford but i love a chevy.. type thing....
