Help with a Bootup Problem

I have started to build a new computer for my self and so I have been gathering parts for it for some time... Now that I have most of all the stuff I want ... I started to pu together my system..... Here are the componenets I used:


Intel E6300 Processor
ECS P4m800PRO-M motherboard

I got these 2 from Frys as a combo deal.. I know the board is crappy but its supposed to be a startup board and I will upgrade later...

I also am using DDR400 RAM
Hard drives : Seagate - 45Gig and 250 Gig EIDE drives and SATA 400 GIg x 2
DVD ROMS - Sony and Liteon... DVD writers

now the problem is that the motherboard has 2 IDE channels(IDE 1 and 2) and 2 SATA channels... now when I try to plug in 1 Hard drive on IDE 1 and 1 DVD rom on IDE 2 everything works... but If I try to put 2 hard drives on IDE1 and 1 DVD rom or 2DVD roms and 1 hard drive or even SATA and IDE combo drives... the computer fails to boot up.. it shuts off right when the hard drive or DVD rom starts to spin

I have tried changing the jumpers on drives to Master and slave and CS on all ther drives but no help

so my question is my motherboard messed up? or is there some setting in Bios that Im missing?
