Help with 9800 AIW TV Problem

i am having a strange random lockup problem. when i have the tv playing, while i am working in other programs, the monitor just suddenly goes dead, but the sound from the tv is still playing. i have no idea what is going on, tried reformatting, diff drivers. help!

hey chris,

try disabling vpu recover in the ati control panel. that might work.

didn't work, it still crashes, however there is a difference. now, when it crashes, windows reverts back into what looks like safe mode, and says windows recovered from a device failure. could it be a bad video card or mobo?

Have you tried cat 3.10? It seems very strange, maybe the card has gone bad. Have you tried to e-mail ATi?

ati wasn't very helpful, they were quick to blame hardware.

next i'll try disabling HT and/or fast writes.

ps- i am using cat 3.10

have you installed directx9.ob ?

i have dx9.0b, and all the pre required software. what i did was disabled fast writes, this seems to be working, as it hasn't crashed since.

If you have directx 9.0b you have to install another fix. Read through this thread at rage3d and that might help.
