I'm still new to all of this, but I overclocked my card to 620/1000 and it runs idle at 53c or so. Should I leave all the settings in the Nvidia control panel alone? Meaning is it good to set the AA to 4x, and the AF to 16x? Or should I just leave it all at defaults?

I'm trying to understand what all this stuff means.

Thanks.

I set Anisotropic to 16x, enhance application AA and set to 4AA (although some games won't be able to do AA anyway, transparency multisampling, Texture quality to High Quality, triple buffering on, and vsync on as well. Sometimes the game will override settings anyway.

Thank you. :)

Just curious but is 53c a little warm for this card at idling even if I did pump it up to 620/1000? Just wondering. What are your temps at 650/1000 on your card at idle?

The average temps of the 8800s seem to be around 50C idle and around 70C on load, your temps seem fine.

Lol, I wish I could get that low right now. My ambient temperatures are a bit high though at around 26-28C so I idle at 63-64C, and I saw the load go up to about 89C today, but I think the ambient was even hotter at the time. There were no stability issues though while I was playing Bioshock.

I keep my fan at 75%. And this is with an open case.

Your temps are even a tad low for this card which tells me you probably have a nice cooling case as well.
Mine @ 620/100 runs ~ low 60c @ idle and low to mid 70c @ load
