I have an AMD XP1800+ (1.53Ghz) processor with it's amd factory fan and heatsink. Anyways I am not pleased with the Idle/Max temps of this HSF. I get up to 155 Degrees Fahrenheit at Max system load, i.e. 3D intensive apps.

So I'm planning on buying a ThermalRight SLK800 bare heatsink and a serperate 80mm fan. I'm wondering what fan would be best coupled with this heatsink? I don't want anything as radical as the new vantec Tornado 80mm fan but something in between I think.
Will a Sunon Extreme Output 80mm fan 50CFM/40Dba be not too loud but ample enough to drop my cpu temps signifagntly? btw is Artic Silver 3 compound any better than Artic Silver 2 compound? I have some AS2 left over and would use that if it's just as good.

What's a good fan that's not too loud is my basic question? How many CFM is ample for a XP1800+ cpu not being OC'ed? TY

Arctic Silver 2 is fine, there is no need to upgrade to AS3. I have a non OC'ed 1700+ with a Thermalright SK6 and 24 CFM Panaflo L1A. My CPU never goes above 50C. If you need a little more cooling a Sunon fan in the 30s CFM should do fine.
