Ok, I built my first computer without any problems, and have it at 933mhz at the moment. The hitch is that its guarenteed at 1008mhz, but im having trouble getting it to boot. The computer consists of an asus CUSL2, Mushkin rev.2 pc133, and Annahilator2. Im still on the original bios that came with the motherboard. This is how it went when I tried to get it at 1008mhz, I set the fsb ratio to 144/144/34 and it refused to boot and went to safety mode, also I tried setting the ram below spec to see if thats the problem. If you need more info ill add it to figure this one out, I only have a limited knowlege of overclocking so please bare with me.

Syborg1211 is right... most 700e`s wont do 1000mhz or more without a little voltage bump. Also what voltage was the chip guarenteed to run 1008mhz??? A little more system info & spec`s help quiet a bit... Everything from cooling to bios settings make big difference`s. Help us we will help you...

Ok, being more specific it's guranteed at a gig at 1.8volts also, im using a pal35t with artic silver. Can my mushkin ram be the problem i thought it could handle the 144mhz fsb fine its rev.2 I have yet to get it to post at 1008mhz it just hangs and boots up in safe mode. Im assuming that means its not heat related, and yet a problem with a component. Also the hardrives a IBM 75gxp if that matters.

Ok, a little success I now have it at 980mhz@1.8volts where to go from here? I tried for 1008mhz at 1.85 volts and it was a no go.

run it at 980 for a day or so and you might burn in to 1008, be patient. That's all i can tell you.

where did you buy your chip? maybe you got ripped off?

If you go to www.cusl2.com you can look in the message boards for some answers. Many people have found that bumping the CUSL2 up bit by bit in small increments (1mhz) can be successful when a large jump does not work. I have not confirmed this, and your mileage may vary. :)
