Hey guys, I just got my new system:

3200 winchester sock 939
ASUS SLI-Deluxe Mobo
1 gig OCZ PC 4000 gold ram (2x512)
MSI 6600 GT pci-e card
Tsunami case
Hyper 48 heatsink + artic silver

I wanna overclock my cpu, but I really don't know all the ram settings and the voltage stuff for cpu/ram. I overclocked to 2.2 by setting the memory to 220 with 10 x multiplier and it worked, but I kept getting system boot failures so I am thinking I dident set up my ram correctly and my voltages. Could you guys help me out with some voltage settings and all the ram settings?

Please and thanks. I wanna get like 2.4 at least out of this, my cpu temps are really good, I had 30 C with the 2.2 ghz o'c, and this hyper 48 cooler is massive.

Did you lower the HT multiplier from 5x to 4x? If not thats probably your problem. The HT doesn't like to be much higher than 1000.

No I have not tried that yet, I have no idea what that even is, but I will when I get back. Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

In the bios it's under Advanced/CPU configuration/Hyper transport frequency
At 220 your HT = 220X5 = 1100
So up till 250 HTT an HT multiplier of 4x is good after that you should drop it to 3x.

Your CPU should get up to around 2.5 on stock voltage, not sure about your memory.

Thanks alot :)

I was getting some boot failure errors but they seem to have gone away now, it wasnt stable at 230x10 but 235x10 worked like a charm.

I put the hyper transport to 4, and got the fsb at 250 x 10, and it seems to be running stable @ 2.5.

The guys at the store said my memory is rated at 250 so I guess its running spec speed, in your experiences do you think I could reach for 2.6 or 2.7? I see that your running yours high, what kind of cooling are you using?

I am running stock cooling.

I couldn't get my ram to run 1:1 after 250 HTT. You can try going higher at 1:1 if it doesn't work you can always use a memory divider (DDR333) setting. This is what i had to do to get to 2.75. You should definilty be able to reach 2.6.

Running your mem at the same speed as the fsb.

If you use CPU-Z it will tell you the speed that your Ram is running.

Ok I'm having a real problem here. I got the OC easily to 2.5, but I still keep getting that Failure to boot error message when I start up my comp. Now this only happens when I power up my comp for the first time, I press DEL to go into the bios setup, press save and exit again without changing anything, it resets and goes to loading windows with no errors. The cpu is stable in windows, as I have left the system on for a few hours and played a bit of games to see if it would crash, CPU z shows 2.5 ghz. If I power down the system and then boot it up again, Ill get the Failure to boot message again, having to go through the whole process again of going into the bios, saving the settings, and booting into windows. What could be making this failure to boot message? It has to be a setting in the BIOS, but which? Please help.

One more thing, i've been looking around on the boards and see that alot of people have cool & quiet disabled. Should I do this also? Could this be whats causing my boot failure every time I power up my rig?
