My Creative Labs TNT2 has been working fine till now. But all of a sudden, 2d games run reallyyyyyyy slow and my display is all messed up. My desktop looks like it's running in 256 colors (setting at 32bit). And when i go to directx properties (dxdiag), it shows that directdraw and direct3d acceleration isn't avaialable (also says "n/a" for amount of memory). I have tried everything from reinstalling my nvidia drivers, directx and via 4-in-1 drivers. My "hardware acceleration" is also set to full. Here's what i currently have:

detonator 12.60's
Via 4-in-1 4.31 final
directx 8.0a

Just to make sure that my actual card wasn't damaged, i tested it in Windows XP, and it works fine. I have tried almost everything I can think of!!

Ok, the very latest Nvidia drivers (probably from the 7.00 series through the 12.60 recently released) are not optimised for the TNT2 but rather for the Geforce2 and the GF3. There was a Detonator Driver comparison (it might have been at 3dchipset.com) that showed which of the driver sets performed best for each of the Nvidia flavours. I can't find it right now, but I might later (gotta go to work). In the mean time, go to Creative's site and get the latest of their proprietary drivers for the TNT2 -- change your driver adapter to this and see if it helps.

Go here for detailed instructions about installing drivers and tweaking your settings. http://www.tweak3d.net/tweak/geforce/
