i want to go ahead and prewire for IR in some of my rooms. i was advised to get 2 conductor grounded 22 or 24 ga wire. i can't seem to find what i need. i want a good deal on it too. also, if i want to prewire to later add alarm, intercom, etc, would the 2 conductor be enough or should i have more conductors? what do all the shielded/grounded, colors, and conductors mean and allow me to do with it?

edit: IR=Infared

i know what white, black, and red mean, but for this type of wire, do i just use the basic cable or is there some special colors i should be using?

lol! I don't think you should be wiring your own house.

edit: for your safety, don't mean to rag on ya! :D

IR uses low voltage, so 22 ga. should be fine. If you're going to add alarms & intercoms, you're going to need more than 2 conductors. www.smarthome.com has lots of info on the subject, and they sell just about every kind of wire you'll need (although you could probably find it cheaper somewhere else).
