I recently uppgraded my home network with a D-link DI-624+ wireless router/switch. On my desktop computer i have it connected through D-link's PCI based network card.
On my HP laptop I use the D-link DWL-G650+ card.
The router is connected through an ADSL-modem to the internet.
I have no problem connecting to the internet using my desktop computer, however I can't get my connection on the laptop to work!
The card interrogates with the wireless router through a good connection, an ip-number and DHCP is assigned by the router.
Now to the weird thing. I can't connect to the internet at all. I can't even access the browser-based router configuration program using the laptop.
I'm no computer wiz but it seems strange that it can establish contact but it seems as any further exchange of information is impossible.
If I access the router config program through my desktop computer I can see verify that a connection between the router and the laptop is established but when I try to ping the laptop on the assigned ip it is as if the laptop doesn't exist.
Curiously, If I connect my laptop with the router using the ordinary network cable and thereby not using the wireless card the connection works fine.
I've tried reinstalling the latest drivers, uninstalled/deactivated all other networkwork connections on the laptop to no use.
Has anyone experienced this problem too? Any suggestions on what to do before I jump off the closest bridge.
Regards,
Matt
