This is my problem i would like to be able to to view and play music wirelessly from a handheld device to a "base"...i was thinking of wi-fi so i probably am going with either itouch or archos probably a umpc or even a phone

i want to be able to employ this in a car to wirelessly play music in the car from a distance but before i can get it to work in a car i would like to know how to employ it first at home

sry in advance if this is simple but i have few knowledge on wireless technology

in a car this would be difficult, because you would have to connect it to your computer at home, This would end up being an advanced setup, why not just get an Ipod that can connect to your car or a device like http://www.slimdevices.com/

It can be done but the cost and the quality would be prohibitive.

Get yourself a Laptop with Verizon, ATT, or any other Internet Wireless Card, connect through the Internet to your home server and stream a very "expensive" music.

In order to play on the PC and controling it form remote you need a remote control program.

I am not familiar with the Archos but any simple Wireless capable laptop with the free UltraVNC installed can easily remote control a Networked pc and make the computer do whatever it can do (singing and dancing included).

For the actual music, playing even 802.11b should be OK.

The lag is probably pertaining to actual interaction (I.e. if you want to play a game thought remote).

Just starting and controlling a music player or similar actions is Not a problem.
