HELP - WinXP + SB Live Problems!

So Im running a 1.2Ghz Athlon on an Epox 8k7a Mobo... and I have 2 30gb hds and 1cdrw and 1dvd drive... and so yesterday I put in an ATA-100 card to add another drive, but after I did so my sound would not work out of my SB Live MP3 5.1. So I tried to reinstall the drivers but it froze up when it got to 'updating drivers this may take a few minutes'. When I tried to reboot it would automatically reboot everytime it got to the 'Welcome' screen. I took out the ATA-100 card which didnt fix anything, then I took out the SB which let me boot back into windows. However, if I put the SB back in then it would do the same thing over again. I then changed my default sound to my onboard sound and then put in the SB which let me boot back to windows. BUT if I try to play sounds from the SB then it reboots, and if I try to reinstall the drivers it just freezes again... I tried removing the SB from Device Manager but that freezes also...
HELP, PLEASE!

686B strikes again.

All you can do is update to the latest BIOS, install the latest 4-in-1 "fix" package (hard to say which version we're up to now), and cross your fingers.

You might be better off switching to a Santa Cruz or the like. Or ditching the VIA-based mainboard.
