Help!
I have a (Leadtek) Winfast geForce 256 DDr in my primary machine.
I just bought a Shuttle SN41G2 with nForce2 chipset for my wife.

I am considering retiring my card an putting it into my wife's PC.
Questions:
Is the geForce 256 DDR and improvement over the nForce?
Assuming I want to spend < $150, which geForce should I buy?
Will it be better much than my current video card?
If I were to try an ATI, which card should I be looking at?
Is there a site that compares all geForces against eachother (and/or against Radeons)?

Thanks for your input
Bob

Id say no, I think it might actually be slower than the on-board GF4 MX IGP. Go with at least a GF Ti 4200 or a Radeon 95000 Pro. Check Anandtech's hardware review site for benches/comparisons on the latest cards.

I second that.

I third that.

I have a GeForce4 Ti 4200 w/ 128MB right now and I just bought a Radeon 9500 Pro, whichever is slower is going to my dad, which btw will be replacing his Creative GeForce256 DDR, what a coincidence. :p

From what I've read online the 9500 Pro is faster so chances are I'll be keeping that. I'll reply to this after I run 3DMark on the 9500 Pro when I get home.

FYI - I currently get 9472 marks with the 4200.

Thanks for the responses!

I was beginning to feel quite frustrated because there were no compares of the geForce 256 to other cards.
I finally found something in Nvidia's marketing doc
http://www.nvidia.com/docs/lo/962/supp/lc_0802_v08.pdf

It appears that even the lowly geForce 2 MX200 at 600 megapixels beats my card (480 megapixels)
No info on the nForce GPU, although I have heard that it is geForce 4mx compatible.

It looks like I may be checking out Tom's site and upgrading soon.
