Help! Windows XP pro won't boot.

I just formated my comp running a PIII Coppermine 800Mhz, 128MB SDRAM, and a 20GB ATA hard drive. I installed Windows XP Pro, and when I restart, it says "Verifying DMI Pool Data"... and just gets stuck there... I set the boot order to C, CDROM, and then A. I installed Windows on the C partition. I plan to use this as a web/file server. Should I reformat and install Windows 2000? Should I get more RAM? Help would be appreciated.

I would say try "fixmbr" or try reinstalling windows xp with the repair option. Might be bad hard drive . . .
