Help! Windows programs hang while scrolling

I've had this problem since installing this Epox/Duron700. After a few minutes my computer will hang as I am scrolling. The mouse can still move but nothing responds. This happens with IE5.5 and IE4.0, Netscape Navigator 4.75 and 6.0, and has also happened while scrolling menus in MS Combat Flight Sim 2. Most times I crtl-alt-del three times and reboot. About 1 out of 10 times I ctrl-alt-del and get a "windows is busy or unstable" blue screen but press any key and I return to the desktop.

I have a MS Intellimouse with the latest drivers. My Asus video card uses 6.49 Detonator drivers (same problem with 5.30 and 6.31 drivers). The SB Live also has latest drivers. These components were all used in my old PII-400 system with no trouble.

Does this sound like it's related to the new motherboard? What bios or jumper settings might be affecting Windows while scrolling?

I'd appreciate any suggestions. This is my second try writing this because I scrolled up to check for spelling mistakes and it died. Heeeeeellllp Meeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

You might detail what you're using in the way of HSF and case fans. Chances are that this isn't a heat related problem, but Durons are H O T processors even when not overclocked.

Yes, I don't think it's a heat problem. I have a Taisol HSF and one intake case fan at the front and the power supply fan for exhaust. The Bios shows a temp of 29C. It gets up to about 33 after an hour of gaming.

Its most likely your video. Had this happen to one of our clients before. Updating the drivers for the video card fixed the problem. And it was always while scrolling in IE.

Install different drivers or just generic drivers to see if that makes a difference.
