HELP: Windows media player taking too many resources when i play a video

Whenever i play a video the cpu resources jumpes to around 60% and often times the video shrinks to the bottom corner of the screen. Anybody know how to fix this?

The CPU usage is probably normal, as the CPU has to do the work of the decoding of the video and audio of the format you are using. However, I have never checked my CPU usage while watching a video because, well, I am watching something and don't need the cycles anyhow, so why do I care?
