Help Windows 98 SUCKS! (harddrive issues)

Well I just installed a new hardrive on my system and it has managed to screw up winblows 98. Previously I had a 27 gig western digital that was partioned into 2 fat 32 partions. I partioned the new hardrive (a 60 gig western digital) in to 2 30 gigs. I also have 2 cdrom drives. Windows 2000 had no problem in adjusting the drive letters and what not. In windows 98 it had no problem adjusting the drive letters, but it created a new drive, one that doesnt exist "e" (I went through the sizes of all the other drives it showed, and cant figure out what this "E" is). Evertime it or I try to acess E it freezes up for minutes! It takes over ten minutes to boot up into windows 98 now (it looks for files on E, ones that used to be on E). AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Solutions anyone? If I was not clear enough feel free the ask questions! Thanks!

So, from what Iam gathering you still have windows 98 and windows 2000 on your orginal drive right?

If windows 2000 works good, pefect, its the hard one to reinstall.
For Windows 98, I recommend just reinstalling, it does not take that long now-a-days.

It isn't windows fault. Why the hell do you blame windows for your problem? Is this an attempt to get sympathy? You screwed up bud, not windows.
Easy fix---Get Partition Magic 5.5. And chech your bios settings. This sounds like a conflict with one of your cd roms. Check slave/master settings on your equipment.

maybe the "e" drive is NTFS. I would boot into 2000 and check it out. Maybe you should format e.

you said that you have win98 if you don't have win98SE you need to get the SP1 for win98, I vaguely remember that the sp1 for 98 had fix the support for large HD's.

ouch u guys are mean! I have not messed up my master/slave settings. There are no NTFS partions, just linux, win 2k partion, and win 98 SE, all on the same 27 gig hardrive. -Jejunum

Maybe your E drive is a linux partition. Depending on verion I dont think fdisk wipes it clean unless you reset the mbr.
