Okay i just installed win2k and windows automatically detected and installed my Sony G400 monitor as a PLUG AND PLAY monitor and my nvidia tnt2 ultra.

So, i install my Sony G400 monitor drivers from a disk they provided me that has all the color profiles on it and win2k now recognized my monitor as the SONY G400 monitor.

THEN, i install nvidia's win2k drivers and when i rebooted, windows recognized the monitor as just a " DEFAULT MONITOR " AND I CAN'T ACCESS THE "PROPERTIES" OF this monitor!!

In addition, my screen size has changed from when i was using win98se just this afternoon. i am using the same refresh rate and resolution and i haven't touched my monitor settings, so i don't know how it would change. the screen size should be the same. help!

This might sound stupid, but did you try installing the monitor drivers again after installing the nvidia's win2k drivers?

Did You install the drivers for the monitor this way?

Right Click on Desktop--->goto propeties--->setting--->Advanced--->Monitor-->Properties--->Driver-->Update driver(2 ways to go here) -->Have disk-->Point to correct path where drivers are and Install the drivers

The problem is I can't access the monitor in any way. Not through device manager, not through display properties. I even tried adding a plug and play monitor but that didn't work either. It doesn't even show up in device manager.

I'm having the same problem also. I installed Windows 2000 (fresh install) and it didn't detect my monitor. Not only that but it doesn't give me an option to update the driver. Worst of all there is NO MONITOR DEVICE UNDER DEVICE MANAGER. What is this???

Hehe, well this was an old post and i figured out the source of the problem atleast. Apparently, this only happens after i install the beta win2k drivers for my Creative Labs DXR3 decoder board.

Do you have a Creative Labs decoder? If so, that could be the problem. Unfortunately, there is no solution. Apprently, it's a known bug, but Creative hasn't gotten around to fixing it. Sorry.

Hmmm... I don't have a decoder card. Actually the computer that is having the problems with the monitor is not the one listed in the signature. It's another one with a generic Trident video card. I'm thinking that it might be related to the video card drivers, but I'm going to have to think about this... Thanks anyway The_Wildcard.
