Initially I had a single FAT 32 partition on an 80 GB disk with 32 GB of data. Using PQMagic 7, I created a new partition on this same disk of 12 GB on which I would install XP. I am currently running WIN2K. After everything was complete, I booted into Win2K, and only the new 12GB partition was being detected by Windows. I went into PQMagic and it saw the second partition with 32 GB of data, unfortunately this partition was hidden. I unhid it, which allowed Windows to see the partition, but when I tried to access it, Windows prompted me to format the disk. I DIDN'T format it because I have 32 GB of data.
So my assumptions are that when creating a partition, the FS table for this current partition was never created. I CANNOT lose this data. I am currently trying to convert the partition using PQMagic, hoping that all tables and indexes are rebuild. I know that the data still exists because the "shifting data" part of the convert process is taking forever and my disk is continuously busy.
Any ideas on how I can rebuild the FS so that Windows can see it, and so that I can retrieve the data? PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!! Thanks.
